Getting Started With HDFVR & the Video Recorder Module for PHPFox

Thank you for using the HDFVR Video Recorder Module for PHPFox. As you will see below, HDFVR is THE video recording software to use.

The Video Recorder Module for PHPFox comes also an integrated player that will stream, on your website, the recorded videos from the media server.

1. Installing the Video Recorder Module for PHPFox on your web site

Download the following archives from from your client/trial area on nustfhq.com (you shold have received direct link by email after purchase):

  • HDFVR archive (hdfvr.zip)
  • PHPFox Video Recorder Module (hdfvr_phpfox30x_module.zip)

Extract their contents to your computer and follow steps 1.1 and 1.2 below.

1.1 Installing the hdfvr app folders on the media server:

On Red5 On AMS On Wowza

1) Copy the Red5/hdfvr folder (from the hdfvr.zip archive) to your Red5/webapps folder.

2) Restart Red5.

Copy the AMS/hdfvr folder (from the hdfvr.zip archive) to your AMS/applications folder.

If you're using AMS hosting create a new application/folder named hdfvr and in it upload the contents of the AMS/hdfvr folder (from the hdfvr.zip archive).

 

1) Copy the applications, conf and lib folders (you will find them in the Wowza folder from the hdfvr.zip archive) inside the Wowza installation folder.

2) Restart Wowza.

3) Wowza 4 only: Starting with Wowza Media Server version: Wowza Streaming Engine 4.0, a new GUI has been added that allows you to control the server and individual applications. This can be accessed via browser at the following link http://WOWZA_SERVER_ADDRESS:8088/enginemanager/.

By default this version of Wowza Media Server comes with the default stream prefix mp4. This needs to be changed to flv. Here's how:

  1. Go to http://WOWZA_SERVER_ADDRESS:8088/enginemanager/
  2. From the top menu click the [Server] page
  3. In Server Setup click Edit
  4. Change Default Stream Prefix from mp4 to flv
  5. Save

 

1.2 Installing the HDFVR Video Recorder Module on your PHPFox 3.x web site:

  1. Download the HDFVR Video Recorder Module for PHPFox archive (hdfvr_phpfox30x_module.zip) on your computer from your private client/trial area.
  2. Copy include and module folders from hdfvr_phpfox30x_module (extract hdfvr_phpfox30x_module.zip) to the root of your PHPFox installation
  3. Copy from the hdfvr.zip unzipped archive the contents of the Files to upload to your website folder into [your site]/module/hdfvr/include/plugin/hdfvr/.
  4. Create a new folder called snapshots at [your site]/module/hdfvr/include/plugin/hdfvr/snapshots and set it's permissions to 777
  5. Login as admin into your PHPFox Website and go to:
    AdminCP >> Extensions >> Product >> Import Products
  6. Find HDFVR Video Recorder in your products list and click on Install
  7. Go to [your site]/module/feed/template/default/block/ and open form.html.php with a text editor, search for {/foreach} (in an untouched file you will find it at line 63) and after the first result paste this line

    then search for this line

  8. Go to [your site]/module/feed/template/default/block/ and open content.html.php with a text editor, earch for </div><!-- // .activity_feed_content_text --> (in an untouched file you will find it at line 102) and before it paste this line

    If you have trouble at the steps 6 and 7 you can always contact the tech support.
  9. Go to AdminCP >> Settings >> Manage Settings, on the following page click General HDFVR Settings

  10. Enter your RTMP Connection String and click [Submit]

  11. That's it, you will now see a [Record Video Profile] link on each member index page and a [Record a video] in the Share section.

2. Limiting HDFVR Video Recorder features for each users group

Login as admin and go to AdminCP -> Users -> Manage User Groups

In the page that will load, click the small arrow in front of the group name and click Manage User Settings.

In the page that will load, click Hdfvr on the left side column.
In the right side the settings will be displayed, edit what you need and click Save

3. Where are the HDFVR files when using the PHPFox Video Recorder Module?

All the HDFVR standalone files including language files, audio/video quality profile files, avc_settings.php and, well, everything else, are on your PHPFox web site in:

phpFox_installation_folder/module/hdfvr/include/plugin/hdfrv/
